Media Advisory: On the occasion of Father’s Day, experts discuss Engaged Fatherhood and Paternity Leave in the MENA Region

WHAT? Roundtable discussion with experts and representatives from governments, civil society organizations and private sector on the importance of men’s active involvement in childcare. The event will also discuss legal and policy reforms in favor of paternity leave in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. On the occasion of the celebration of Father’s Day in most countries of the MENA region, the roundtable will present global and regional evidence about the benefits that engaged fatherhood does have for men, women, children, families and societies.

WHEN?  On Monday 21st June 2021, from 2:00 pm to 3:35 pm Cairo time (GMT+2).

WHO?  This roundtable discussion is organized under the framework of the UN Women’s “Men and Women for Gender Equality” regional programme - funded by Sweden-. Speakers include Susanne Mikhail Eldhagen, UN Women’s Regional Director for the Arab States, as well as representatives from governments, civil society organizations and the private sector in the MENA region.
