Call for Proposals for Civil Society Organizations on Dealing with the Past

UN Women Lebanon Office welcomes proposals for partnerships to achieve results under the Women, Peace, and Security programme.

Proposals should suggest interventions to achieve one or more of the following outcomes, outputs, activities, and indicators below, utilizing an approach recommended by the applicant.

Outcome 3.2: Strengthened security, stability, justice, and social peace.

Output 3.2.1 Social cohesion enhanced through women-led intra- and inter-community inclusive processes and social dialogue.

Activity 3.2.1.16 Develop and continue support to women's local and national mediation / peacebuilding / reconciliation groups and networks to identify community disputes/threats and influence formal and informal mediation efforts.

Indicative Activities:

  • Conduct gender conflict analysis and map current community level peacebuilding and reconciliation initiatives, including those led by women and youth, and identify gap areas and communities.
    • Target: one report covering 6 dialogue sites
  • Train women leaders on co-facilitation of cross-community and intergenerational dialogue sessions and implement community actions for reconciliation between women groups, with mainstreaming psychological support.
    • Targets: 30 women cofacilitators, 6 dialogues sites, 12 community groups (comprising 240 women dialogue participants); at least 6 dialogue meetings per group; 12 community actions.
  • Implement cross-learning, advocacy, and communications initiatives to promote women-led peace building work, in coordination with UN Women.
    • Target: 8 initiatives and communication products

Timeframe: 24 months

Activity 3.2.1.18 Mobilize actors towards truth, justice and reconciliation using the findings of the gender war crime study. Indicative Activities:

  • Produce and disseminate knowledge and communication products on discrimination against and exclusion of women from Lebanon’s history (including pre, during, and post the civil war) and from mainstream narratives.
    • Target: at least 6 events
  • Develop educational materials that are gender-responsive and that address the marginalization of women from Lebanon’s history (including pre, during, and post the civil war) and from mainstream narratives.
    • Target: at least 6 products
  • Roll-out of above-mentioned educational materials with teachers of middle and secondary schools
    • Target: 35 teachers
