Libya: Women At The Forefront

To celebrate the “International Women’s Week” and the critical roles Libyan women have played in building the foundations for a peaceful transition, UN Women, supported by the European Union Delegation and the Embassy of Canada to Libya, organized an online symposium “Libya: Women at the Forefront” from 8 to 11 March 2021.   

This publication summarizes the discussions, remarks, and recommendations that were made during the International Women’s Week celebration. It also presents key takeaways from 12 panel discussions that engaged over 350 participants, including ambassadors, heads of agencies and 60 Libyan women, on their experiences, challenges and recommendations moving forward.
