The Economic and Social Impact of Conflict on Libyan Women Recommendations for Economic Recovery, Legal Reform and Governance for Gender-Responsive Peacebuilding

This study aims to shed light on the economic and social impact of the crisis on women and girls and their prospects for employment, economic recovery, participation and empowerment. In this examination, the study also looks more broadly at the impact of conflict on women living in Libya and the current gender stereotypes and patriarchal social norms that shape their roles and opportunities. The study highlights and identifies opportunities for developing a gender-responsive recovery framework that creates the basis for an inclusive society and proposes recommendations on economic recovery, legal reform and governance for gender-responsive peacebuilding.
