Expert Group Meeting on the Implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action in the Arab Region

UN Women Regional Office for the Arab States in partnership with the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the League of Arab States (LAS), and the Arab Women Organization (AWO) is organizing an expert group meeting to discuss the draft regional report on progress made in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action over the past 25 years.
The workshop, which will take place on 25 and 26 September 2019 at the United Nations House in Beirut, Lebanon, will consider progress achieved in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action since the previous five-yearly review undertaken in 2015. The discussion will be based on the national reports submitted by member States in the Arab States region and the first draft of the consolidated regional report that will be presented to the Commission on the Status of Women in New York in March 2020.
The meeting will bring together representatives of national women machineries in the Arab States region, as well as national human rights institutions, relevant international and regional organizations and gender experts,
