Media Advisory: The first Steering Committee Meeting to Launch the Joint Programme on advancing the Work for Women in Egypt, Jordan and Palestine

Partners to the joint programme “Promoting Productive Employment and Decent Work for Women in Egypt, Jordan and Palestine” will gather for the first steering committee meeting on 03 October 2019 in Cairo, Egypt.

With the presence of high-level representatives of national institutions of the three partner countries, representatives of employers’ and workers’ organizations, the civil society, as well as representatives of the implementing UN agencies, UN Women and ILO, this meeting will see keynote addresses of national representatives on importance of inclusive, gender-responsive socio-economic development. Presentation of key findings of the inception phase that aimed to validate the programme’s approach and tailor its services to each of the three partner countries will follow. The meeting will conclude discussion on the next steps in the programme to achieve its objectives.

The 2019-2022 programme seeks to support women to benefit from opportunities for better jobs, security at workplaces, equal access to professional development, social protection for families and better prospects for personal development and integration in society.  

The programme is generously funded by and implemented in collaboration with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

Who: Members of the Steering Committee of the joint programme: high-level representation from Egypt Ministry of Manpower and National Council for Women, from Jordan Ministry of Labour and National Council for Women, from Palestine Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Women Affairs and Ministry of National Economy, workers’ and employers’ representatives, civil society organisations, as well as representatives of the implementing UN agencies, UN Women and ILO.
