The aim of this report is to present evidence on the impact of UN Women’s interventions and provide in-depth analysis around resilience and factors critical for strengthening resilience. This will allow UN Women to expand its evidence based on resilience and help better design programmes, ensuring that they are mainly based on needs and vulnerabilities of the population of concern.

With thanks to the Government of Japan, who generously funded the regional ‘Women's Leadership, Empowerment, Access, and Protection (LEAP) project as well as the resilience monitoring efforts in 2020 and 2020, UN Women in Yemen was able to roll-out the gender-sensitive resilience capacity index in Al Hodaidah, Aden and Hadramout through its implementing partners, the Yemeni Women Union (YWU), Women Charity Association for Combating Poverty (WACP) and Youth Leadership Development Institute (YLDF).

There is a tendency for the pursuit of gender equality to fall by the wayside during times of crises and to be considered as a goal of secondary importance that can be placed back on the agenda once economic growth has recovered. But the reality is that taking steps towards gender equality is part of the solution and supporting women to enter the formal economy in significant numbers will widen Lebanon’s tax base and support the fiscal sustainability of Lebanon’s social security programmes.

This report consists of analyzed data and information collected for the banking sector, the public enterprise sector, Egyptian Stock Exchange listed companies, and the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) companies. The 2019 “Women on Boards Monitoring Report” analysis reveals that women represent 10% among a total number of 5,707 board members in the included categories. Overall, a total of 578 women are currently serving on Egyptian boards. One-hundred and thirteen qualified women are needed to join boards in the studied categories in Egypt annually, to reach the target of the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women of 30% by 2030.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, UN Women Palestine Office conducted a flash online survey on the impact of COVID-19 on women-led MSME's employing up to 95 employees. The online survey was administered between 17-27 March 2020. In total, 301 women entrepreneurs from the West Bank and Gaza responded to the survey.
