Gender Equality in the Earthquake Humanitarian Response for North West Syria

The 2022 Women on Boards Observatory annual monitoring report analyzes data and track records for the representation of women on boards and senior leadership positions of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) listed companies, the banking sector, the public enterprise sector, and the non-banking financial sector supervised and regulated by the Financial Regulatory Authority. The women on boards indicator have significantly improved from 16.7 percent in 2021 to 19.7 percent in 2022.

Under the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2023-2027), this business case highlights UN Women Egypt Country Office (ECO) on-going contributions and emerging partnerships to accelerate Egypt’s climate action by increasing the access of a diverse range of women to decent employment in agriculture, renewable energy, and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)- related sectors.

Under CERF programme, UN Women Palestine examined the various results produced by the different interventions provided to women at risk or surviving GBV and how UN Women’s approach to strengthening resilience improves not only their overall resilience but also improves their wellbeing and perceptions on gender equality, reduces their tolerance to GBV, increases their decision making inside their households and improves their livelihoods. The project was implemented in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. UN Women’s hypothesis is that protection and livelihoods support to women at risk or exposed to GBV will yield deeper and long-lasting equality outcomes and will have a spill over effect across multiple domains in a woman’s life. The objective of this monitoring exercise was to generate evidence on the multiple dimensional impact of UN Women’s programmes/assistance on women’s livelihoods, wellbeing, tolerance to GBV and decision-making.

The UN Women Egypt Country Office’s Country Portfolio Brief gives a comprehensive overview on the main programmes implemented by UN Women during the period from 2023 to 2027 in support of the Arab Republic of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women (NSEEW).

The study surveyed 2,400 Jordanian men and women aged 18-59, from 12 governorates across Jordan, as well as 512 Syrian men and women living in Amman, Zarqa, Irbid and Mafraq. The research also includes a qualitative component that involved 110 men and women who participated in 12 focus group discussions and 17 in-depth interviews.

The Swiss Embassy in Tunisia has provided financial support for the UN Women's programme "Contribute to the establishment of a system of collection and production of gender statistics in Tunisia" and within this framework that this study is contributing to the implementation of a system of collection and production of gender statistics in Tunisia in collaboration with strategic partners, mainly the National Council of Statistics.

Dans le cadre de cette étude, 2 400 hommes et femmes tunisien.ne.s ont été interrogé.e.s, âgé.e.s de 18 à 59 ans, issu.e.s de plus de 120 localités à travers la Tunisie. La recherche comprend également un volet qualitatif qui a impliqué 34 hommes et 27 femmes.

In May 2022, the UN Women Regional Office for Arab States and the Government of Finland organized a two-day workshop titled “Women Building Peace in the Arab States: Regional Synergies and Cross-Learning” to highlight women’s mediation efforts in their communities and the lessons learned from interventions under the regional WPS programme and the Syria WPS programme.

This report examines access to finance in the United Arab Emirates for WOBs; describes government and private measures to promote women’s entrepreneurship; looks at global best practices and makes recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders to improve women-owned businesses’ access to financing.

L'étude de recherche participative vient répondre aux questions suivantes: Quels sont les besoins des femmes et des jeunes filles au sud Tunisien? Quel est leur rôle dans la cohésion sociale et quelles sont les opportunités économiques pour elles? Elle vient proposer des pistes de solutions pour renforcer l’autonomisation des femmes et leur potentiel de résilience et leur rôle dans la cohésion sociale pour la prévention de l’extrémisme violent.

This report presents the findings, offers new knowledge on online violence against women and girls in the Arab States and makes recommendations for governments, Internet service providers and civil society organizations to counter it.
