The members of Lebanon’s Feminist Civil Society Platform met on 22 September to express their concern about the drastic regression of women’s representation in the recently formed government in Lebanon. Women’s rights and opportunities to equal participation in decision-making should be institutionalized; therefore, the signatories to this statement issued a list of demands that must be met in order to truly encompass a fair and equitable space for women in the political sphere. Risk communications and community engagement (RCCE) are essential tools to ensure that people are aware of the dangers posed by COVID-19 to themselves and their families, and ensure their involvement in national and local efforts to stop the spread of the virus as well as minimize disruptions to their lives and livelihoods. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, UN Women Palestine Office conducted a flash online survey on the impact of COVID-19 on women-led MSME's employing up to 95 employees. The online survey was administered between 17-27 March 2020. In total, 301 women entrepreneurs from the West Bank and Gaza responded to the survey. In Lebanon, Syrian refugee women and girls of diverse backgrounds continue to confront widespread and systemic gender inequality, which manifests in less access to resources, services, and opportunities, as well as higher risks of violence, abuse, and exploitation. This policy strategy seeks to fast track the repeal of discriminatory laws in 100 countries between 2019 and 2023, focusing on six thematic areas, and will address the legal needs of more than 50 million women and girls.
