The Surging Women’s Employment Initiative in the Middle East and North Africa (SWEI) brings together governments, development partners, the private sector, financial institutions, media and UN agencies to address persistently low women’s employment in the Arab States. With support from partners including the European Union, AECID and Sida, and financing including from the Islamic Development Bank, the initiative intends to bring more partners on board to collectively increase women’s employment by 5 percentage points and support the creation of 500,000 jobs for women by 2030.
