Protecting Women Leads to Societal Development Project
UN Women Yemen, with the support of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief), implemented the Protecting Women Leads to Societal Development project in Aden and Taiz to address the heightened risks faced by women and girls amid Yemen’s protracted humanitarian crisis. Implemented in partnership with For All Foundation, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, and local partners, the project strengthens survivor-centered gender-based violence (GBV) services through four operational safe spaces providing psychosocial support, legal assistance, and referrals, while also building the capacity of frontline staff in GBV case management. Through community awareness sessions, the project aimed at reducing stigma and promoting help-seeking behaviors. The project contributes to safer communities for women and girls and aligns with national and global commitments, including the Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan and SDG 5.
